Maryland Department of Health expands hours at Six Flags America high-volume COVID-19 testing site
Expanded hours increase convenience and accessibility
Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today announced that the Six Flags America drive-thru COVID-19 testing site is expanding its hours of operation. Beginning on November 2, the Six Flags testing site will be open on Mondays from 2 to 6 p.m., Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
“By increasing the hours of operation at the Six Flags testing site, we are making the site even more convenient and accessible for anyone who needs a test,” said MDH Secretary Robert R. Neall. “Testing sites like Six Flags play a critical role in helping to keep the state safe and open for business.”
No appointment is required to get a test at the Six Flags site, although individuals have the option of pre-registering for added convenience or to request accommodations. A doctor’s order is not required for a test at Six Flags, and there is no out-of-pocket expense for patients.
Maryland’s statewide COVID-19 testing capacity has remained consistently strong throughout the pandemic and has continued to increase in recent weeks, creating ample opportunities for Marylanders who need tests to get them quickly and conveniently. 679,161 test results were reported in Maryland between October 1 and October 26, an average of over 26,121 per day and 76,197 more than were reported during the first 26 days in September.
The state’s testing capacity is bolstered by a range of testing site models, including high-volume sites operated by local health departments with state support and private sites at urgent-care clinics and doctors’ offices.
There are currently more than 225 active testing sites across the state.
The Maryland Department of Health continues to urge all Marylanders who need a test to get a test, including:
● symptomatic individuals;
● all who suspect exposure, including those who are asymptomatic;
● individuals who are at risk of exposure, including workers in frequent contact with the public in health care, emergency services, food and grocery, retail or manufacturing, public transportation, educational, and other congregate settings;
● individuals who have been in large gatherings; and
● individuals who have traveled recently.
