Maryland Department of Health Secretary Dennis R. Schrader Visits Adolescent Vaccine Clinic at the TownMall in Carroll County 

Westminster, MD—Today, Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Secretary Dennis R. Schrader visited a vaccine clinic at the TownMall in Westminster, Carroll County, where more than 1,000 adolescents aged 12-17 received a life-saving COVID-19 vaccine.

Secretary Schrader was joined by MDH Assistant Secretary and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeffrey S. Woolford, Carroll County Health Officer Ed Singer, members of the Maryland National Guard, Maryland State Senator Katie Fry Hester, Maryland State Delegate Susan Krebs, Carroll Hospital President Garrett Hoover, Carroll County Emergency Manager Valerie Hawkins, Carroll County Chief of Schools Cindy McCabe and local partners and health care partners.

“Today’s adolescent vaccination clinic at the TownMall in Westminster is a clear example of the vigorous vaccination ground game we put in place to engage individuals to receive a life-saving vaccine,” said MDH Secretary Dennis R. Schrader. “The Carroll County Health Department’s current collaboration with trusted community partners, using a resource such as TownMall, will prove critical to ensuring we vaccinate every Marylander who wants to be vaccinated and reach herd immunity.”

“Children across the state are eager to play sports, attend summer camp, and resume other activities with their friends and getting vaccinated will allow them to do so safely,” said MDH Assistant Secretary and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeffery S. Woolford. “It is encouraging to see so many young Marylanders helping make sure we leave no arm behind.”

“We’re grateful for the support of our many partners who made this clinic possible,” said Health Officer Ed Singer. “We’re excited to see so many young adults getting vaccinated to protect themselves, their families, and their community, and to safely get back to normal activities.”
