Maryland In-Home Services for Children with Lead Exposure and Asthma
Maryland Medicaid works with state agency partners to help kids with asthma or have elevated blood lead levels who are enrolled in or eligible for Medicaid. There are two free in-home service programs that help create a healthier home environment, which can help your child’s health and development.
Lead Exposure
Exposure to lead can hurt your child’s development and growth and it can affect your child’s health for a long time. A child can be exposed to lead from things in your home.
The Healthy Homes for Healthy Kids program can help. It is a free program for kids with high blood lead levels enrolled in or eligible for Medicaid. The program finds lead in the home and works to remove it.
You can enroll at any time. Find out if your child is eligible for lead removal services.
Asthma Management
Asthma attacks are a big reason for missed school for kids and work for parents. Asthma attacks can be caused by things in the home like:
- Dust
- Pests
- Mold
- Pets
- Cigarette smoke
The Childhood Asthma/Lead Poisoning Prevention and Environmental Case Management Program offers free home visiting services to help families who have kids with asthma enrolled in or eligible for Medicaid. The program can help you learn how to reduce asthma attacks in your child.
You can enroll at any time. Find out if your child is eligible for in-home asthma services.
