Maryland Medicaid Renewals Continue in 2024

During the COVID-19 public health emergency, Marylanders who were enrolled in Medicaid continued to be covered, even if they were no longer eligible.

Starting in April 2023, Maryland began making Medicaid eligibility reviews again. Not everyone will be up for renewal at the same time. These renewals will take place over 12 months.

Continue to encourage Medicaid participants to make sure their contact information is up to date - so they can receive and respond to important messages about their health insurance when it's their turn to renew.

Communications Outreach Strategies

Identify opportunities to engage and share information with current participants. Outreach strategies may include:

  • Educate staff on frequently asked questions.
  • Provide fliers at the front desk and in patient rooms.
  • Post flier on the office front door.
  • Send emails to patients.
  • Insert notices in your newsletters.
  • Post on your social media.
  • Post content on your website.

Maryland Medicaid Check-in Communications Toolkit

To reduce the number of qualified members that could lose their coverage, we have created a Check-In toolkit to support providers, advocates and partners with key messaging and resources to make sure members know how to renew their coverage and are aware of other affordable health coverage options if needed.
