About the National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) created the National Diabetes Prevention Program—or National DPP—to address the prediabetes and type 2 diabetes public health crisis in the United States. A key component of the National DPP is the CDC-recognized lifestyle change program, a research-based program focusing on healthy eating and physical activity. People with prediabetes who take part in a structured lifestyle change program can cut their risk of developing type 2 in half.
CDC-recognized lifestyle change programs may enroll with Maryland Medicaid to administer the National DPP to eligible HealthChoice members.
For more information about Maryland Medicaid's program, see the HealthChoice Diabetes Prevention Program.
