This site serves to provide information and updates regarding Maryland's Alternative Benefit Plan, which includes covered services for Maryland's Medicaid expansion population in alignment with Maryland's State Plan.

 

Pursuant to 42 CFR §440.305(d) and 42 CFR §440.386, notice is hereby given that the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health (the Department) intends to seek approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) of a State Plan Amendment to amend the Alternative Benefit Plan (ABP) authorized under section 1937 of the Social Security Act for individuals 19 to 64 years who are eligible for Medicaid pursuant to §1902(a)(10)(A)(i)(VIII) of the Social Security Act, the adult expansion population.

 

The Maryland Medicaid State Plan has expanded to include audiology services to Maryland Medicaid participants. Full details, including the covered services, limitations and pre-authorization requirements are available here. The Department previously consulted on the proposal to expand the State Plan. This Public Notice is to consult on the Department’s intention to amend the ABP to include these services, to bring it into alignment with the Maryland Medicaid State Plan.

 

The proposed amendment complies with the America Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Additionally, the ABP will continue to include the full range of Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) program benefits for individuals under the age of 21 years. The State’s 30-day public comment period will be open from August 24, 2018 through September 24, 2018.
