Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance (MOTA)

MOTA Summary

The Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance (MOTA) program, MHHD’s legacy program, was initially born in 2001 from the Cigarette restitution program to ensure participation in the state's Tobacco and Cancer Community Health Coalition. MOTA has grown to be a chronic disease program providing prevention, education, outreach, and linkage to care services.

In recent years, the MOTA program has provided funding to organizations providing preventative programming utilizing community engagement, partnerships, outreach, technical assistance, and ongoing intervention with individuals with need. The current health focus areas are listed below:

Cardiovascular Diseases
Cancer
Obesity
Diabetes/Prediabetes
Pregnancy and Birth Outcomes
Mental Health

MHHD will monitor the organization's activities through narrative reports and performance measures and data collection throughout the course of funding.

Application information:

The application next cycle for MOTA will be opened in Spring 2026.

Competitive RFA is open to all. Once selected for funding grantees will be considered for funding into the next fiscal year based on performance, these RFA’s are called continuation RFA’s.
