Self-direction, sometimes called consumer-direction or participant-direction, gives you the freedom to choose the services and supports you need to live independently. The core functions of self-direction are choice and control over how your services are provided and who is being paid to provide these services.​​​

​Self-Directed Services Training Series

The Self-Directed Services Training Series​ is available for anyone, including participants, family members, Support Brokers, Coordinators of Community Services, Financial Management and Counseling Services providers, and all service providers, vendors, and employees. If you wish to register to complete the Support Broker Certification training in order to become certified to provide Support Broker services, you must register here​ to complete the training. An overview of Support Broker training is available here.

The DDA will review registrations once per week from October through December 2025. In 2026, the DDA will review registrations once per month on the 2nd Wednesday. Registrants are encouraged to review the curriculum and Self-Directed Services Manual in preparation for having access to the tests.
