About > Focus Areas > Self-Determination
The DDA supports individuals' right to make their own choices and take control of their lives. Through self-direction, participants can choose how, when, where and by whom services are delivered.
The DDA's Family Supports Waiver, Community Supports Waiver, and Community Pathways Waiver all provide the option for self-direction. This model empowers people in DDA services to control their services. Through this model, people gain greater control and take on responsibilities, such as being the employer for service delivery and managing allocated budgets.
