Maryland is a member of the National Community of Practice (CoP) for Supporting Families. The DDA is the lead facilitator of the MD CoP for Supporting Families and works in partnership with people with intellectual disabilities and families, other state agencies, non-profit and advocacy organizations to create policies, practices and systems to better assist and support families caring  for family members with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the lifespan.

MD CoP for Supporting Families envisions a State where people with developmental disabilities and their families are informed and supported to lead what they determine to be their Good Life, fully integrated in their communities across the lifespan.
