Licensure Requirements: Chiropractors

There are No Waivers or Exceptions to any of these requirements


A. Graduation from one of the following CCE approved Chiropractic Colleges:

  • Cleveland Chiropractic College – Overland Park, KS
  • De’Youville College of Chiropractic-Buffalo, NY
  • Keiser University-West Palm Beach, FL
  • Life Chiropractic College West-Hayward, CA
  • Life University College of Chiropractic-Marietta, GA
  • Logan College of Chiropractic-Chesterfield, MO
  • National University of Health Sciences-Lombard, IL; Pinellas Park, FL
  • Northeast College of Health Sciences (formerly New York Chiropractic College)-Seneca Falls, NY
  • Northwestern Health Sciences University-Bloomington, MN
  • Palmer College of Chiropractic-Davenport, IA; San Jose, CA; Port Orange, FL
  • Parker University College of Chiropractic-Dallas, TX
  • Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic-Spartanburg, SC
  • Southern CA Univ. of Health Sciences-Whittier, CA
  • Texas Chiropractic College-Pasadena, TX
  • University of Bridgeport-Bridgeport CT
  • Western States Chiropractic College-Portland, OR
  • Universidad Central Del Caribe-Bayamon, Puerto Rico

B. A Bachelor degree from an accredited college which was awarded before, during or after Chiropractic College.
 
C. NBCE minimum score of 375 for parts I, II, III and IV and the Physiotherapy Exam
Note: To practice Physical Therapy in Maryland, applicants must have passed the Physical Therapy (PT) Part of NBCE Examination with a minimum score of 375.
 
D. Request all transcripts and examination scores be sent, under seal, directly from the school and NBCE to the Board. No documentation will be accepted from the applicants.
 
E. Submit a completed application package for licensure, a non-refundable application fee of $200.00 and an examination fee of $300.00. Applications may be downloaded from the ‘Forms’ menu of the website at https://health.maryland.gov/chiropractic/.
 
Note: All transcripts, applications, fees and supporting documentation must be received by the Board at least 45 DAYS (postmarked) PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED EXAMINATION DATE. Copies of transcripts are not acceptable. Checks or money orders must be made payable to: “Maryland Board of Chiropractic Examiners”.
 
F. Pass a Criminal History Records Check.
 
G. Take/Pass the Maryland Jurisprudence Exam with a minimum score of 75%;
 
 Examination Schedule and Deadlines
All documentation, including application, certificates of moral character, all transcripts, scores and fees, must be received by the Board at least forty-five (45) days (postmarked) before the scheduled examination date (NO EXCEPTIONS/ WAIVERS).


Fees

A non-refundable application fee of $200.00 and an examination fee of $300.00 must accompany each application. Fees must be paid by certified check or money order only and made payable to “Maryland Board of Chiropractic Examiners.”
An application file will be processed upon receipt of the applicable fees. It is the applicant’s exclusive responsibility to ensure that all application materials, transcripts, and fees have been forwarded to the Board’s office to meet the postmark deadline. A Letter of Admission will be forwarded to you as written confirmation that the Board has received and approved your application. You are required to bring that approval letter with you in order to gain admission to the examination. Additionally, at the examination, you will also be required to produce one piece of photo identification (preferably a driver’s license or passport).
 
All applicants are subject to a full background check for any administrative or criminal history. All submitted documentation is subject to a full review and verification from the originator.

Licensure under this provision is limited to 30 days per calendar year, and solely with and during the organization’s/event’s visit, other requirements include:

  • Application/licensure fee is $650.00
  • Applicant must hold a current CPR certification at the provider level
  • Applicant must provide a written certification from his/her State Board verifying status of practice in good standing.
