3/23/2020 Public Order from Sec. Neall

Board Office Update March 23, 2020 - COVID-19

In response to State protocols for the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board Office is currently operating on a further-reduced service schedule.  The majority of all Board staff are teleworking and completing all possible work that is able to be done remotely from home.  Public

Please make note of the following:

1. Until further notice the office at 4201 Patterson Avenue is closed to visitors and only staff members will be allowed in the building.  All Board-related meetings and sub-committee meetings will take place via conference call until further notice.

2.  In lieu of phone calls to the Board Office, we strongly encourage general e-mails be sent to mdh.benha@maryland.gov and licensee inquiries be sent to andrea.hill@maryland.gov Until further notice, our Licensing Coordinator will be in the office on a very limited basis, to process paperwork that can not be completed remotely.  We ask for your patience during this process, as the turnaround time for processing new license and AIT applications, new license packages, and issuing hard copy renewal licenses will take longer than usual.

3.  We strongly encourage all licensees to obtain all 40 CEU's through online courses, use online renewals and pay via credit card versus mailing in a check or money order.

4.  Immediately after the office processes all online renewals, the license will show online as active with the new expiration date.  So these licenses will be valid and up to date prior to our sending out the hard copy renewal licenses, which could be significantly delayed.

We will continue to keep you updated as we get more information.  We appreciate your patience during this rapidly-changing situation.  Thank you, and please be safe.

To address concerns regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators offers the following information:

The Maryland Department of Health has posted the following guidelines:

The CDC recommends:
  • While the immediate risk of this new virus to the American public is believed to be low at this time, everyone can do their part to help us respond to this emerging public health threat:
    • It’s currently flu and respiratory disease season and CDC recommends getting a flu vaccine, taking everyday preventive actions to help stop the spread of germs, and taking flu antivirals if prescribed.
    • If you are a healthcare provider, be on the look-out for people who recently traveled from China and have a fever and respiratory symptoms.
    • If you are a healthcare provider caring for a COVID-19 patient or a public health responder, please take care of yourself and follow recommended infection control procedures.
    • If you have been in China or have been exposed to someone sick with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, you will face some limitations on your movement and activity. Please follow instructions during this time. Your cooperation is integral to the ongoing public health response to try to slow the spread of this virus. If you develop COVID-19 symptoms, contact your healthcare provider, and tell them about your symptoms and your travel or exposure to a COVID-19 patient.
