OUR MISSION

The mission of the Board of Morticians and Funeral Directors is to protect the citizens of Maryland and to promote quality funeral service practices in the field of Mortuary Science by:

• Licensing qualified apprentices, courtesy cards, registered crematory operators, funeral directors, morticians, surviving spouse, registered transporter permits, funeral establishments, crematory permits, mortuary transport company permits, and corporate license renewals;
  

• Professional resolution of complaints from the public;

• Setting high standards that reflect new and emergent developments in the practice of mortuary science through regulation and legislation, in accordance to the statutory mandates of Title 7, Health Occupations Article Annotated Code of Maryland.
