These trainings are intended for members of the community that interact with people at risk for suicide, such as parents, teachers, coworkers, friends, law enforcement officers, and medical professionals and more. Gatekeepers are positioned to recognize the signs that someone is at risk and connect them to resources and supports that can help. These trainings do not require a clinical background.
safeTALK
safeTALK is a three-hour training developed by
Living Works that teaches participants to become suicide alert helpers. Participants will learn how to recognize that someone may be experiencing thoughts of suicide and connect them with a keep-safe connection in the community. This training is available for anyone 15 years of age or older. Learn more about safeTALK

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid that was developed by
Living Works. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop — ASIST can be learned and used by anyone ages 16 or older. Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)
QPR is a one-hour training developed by the
QPR Institute that teaches participants three steps to help someone at risk for suicide: question, persuade, and refer. Participants will learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, offer hope to the person at risk, and connect them to help. Learn more about QPR
