Women, Infants, & Children (WIC)

The WIC Program is a nutrition program for women, infants, and children that provides extra food, tips on healthy eating, breastfeeding help, and referrals for other services.  WIC helps women, infants, and children eat better to have a healthier future.

Women who receive WIC benefits get to prenatal care earlier, eat better while pregnant and right after giving birth, gain the right amount of weight while pregnant, and are more likely to carry babies to full term.  WIC infants experience a lower rate of infant mortality, are born at a healthy size, and grow better.  Children under the WIC program eat and grow better, are ready to start school, have healthy blood iron levels, and receive age-appropriate vaccinations.
