COVID-19 VACCINATIONS​:​​

PLEASE NOTE:  The Allegany County Health Department only offers COVID-19 vaccinations for individuals who are uninsured/underinsured (insurance coverage that does not include vaccines)​ and children who are VFC eligible (click here for VFC eligibility requirements).

Individuals who have insurance which includes vaccinations are not eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines through the health department.  You should contact your primary care provider or participating pharmacies to obtain COVID-19 vaccinations.


​CDC Recommendations for Receiving Additional Doses of COVID-19 Vaccines:

  • People ages 12–64 years who are moderately or severely immunocompromised may receive one additional dose of any updated (2023–2024 Formula) COVID-19 vaccine (i.e., Moderna, Novavax, Pfizer-BioNTech) at least two months after the last dose of updated (2023–2024 Formula) COVID-19 vaccine.
  • People age 65 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should receive one additional dose of any updated (2023–2024 Formula) COVID-19 vaccine (i.e., Moderna, Novavax, Pfizer-BioNTech) at least two months after the last dose of updated (2023–2024 Formula) vaccine 
  • People age 65 years and older who are not​ moderately or severely immunocompromised should receive one additional dose of any updated (2023–2024 Formula) COVID-19 vaccine (i.e., Moderna, Novavax, Pfizer-BioNTech) at least four​ months following the previous dose of updated (2023–2024 Formula) COVID-19 vaccine. 


​TESTING:  ​​

  • ​​​​​Free at-home rapid test kits can be obtained from the health department front desk during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  R​apid test kits are also available at all branches of the Allegany County Library System.  Check their website for ​hours of operation.
  • Free DRIVE-UP PCR testing:  (NOTE:  COVID-19 PCR testing at the health department will be discontinued at the end of May 2024.  May 30 is the last day for drive-up testing.)  Free drive-up PCR testing is offered outside the health department (12501 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland, MD) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.  Pull into a designated parking space marked by the signage below and follow the instructions:​​​​​
