Take Everyday Preventative Actions:
Try to avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Limit contact with others as much as possible when you are sick.
If you are sick, stay home if at all possible. CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, preferably with a tissue. Throw the tissue away. Do not carry it in your hand. If you do not have a tissue, sneeze or cough into the bend of your elbow.
Wash your hands with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Keep your hands away from your face. Germs are spread this way.
