What’s up Doc?
Doctors and medical professionals in Frederick County, it’s time to practice what you preach.

The City of Frederick Parks and Recreation Department, Frederick County Parks and Recreation and the Frederick County Health Department are launching a program this spring called “Docs in the Park,” where medical professionals and doctors get outside, move and prescribe nature and outdoor activities to patients.

This initiative, modeled on a similar successful program in Baltimore City, is part of Frederick County’s Local Health Improvement Plan addressing Wellness and Prevention.

Frederick County Parks and Recreation is searching for volunteers from the medical field (you don’t have to be a doctor) to participate in featured events this spring and summer, including a nature fest, a summer fest and a pumpkin patch event.

You can also participate by keeping a “toolbox” of “Docs in the Park” materials in your office, including posters, brochures and a “ParkScription” pad.

If you want to volunteer at any of the events or would like a toolbox, contact Amy Vagnoni (301-600-2383) (avagnoni@frederickcountymd.gov).
