The Caroline County Health Department, a local office of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, is dedicated to communicable disease prevention, wellness promotion, and environmental protection for all residents and the county in which they live.

The Department operates ten programs concerned with addictions, developmental disabilities, health education and vital statistics, adult health and geriatrics, child health, communicable disease control, the environment, maternity and family planning, mental health and wellness promotion. Most services are tax supported. No one is denied services because of inability to pay.


The vision of the Caroline County Health Department is to provide for lifelong​ health and wellness for all residents.

The USDA awarded our Mid-Shore WIC program that serves Caroline County the Loving Support Award of Excellence

Each year the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) announces the Loving Support Award of Excellence program. The award program was established to recognize local WIC agencies that have provided exemplary breastfeeding promotion and support activities.  The award shows Mi-d-Shore WIC's commitment to strengthen breastfeeding promotion and support activities that ultimately increase breastfeeding initiation and duration rates among WIC participants and improving the lives of children.
The award recognizes that our Mid-Shore WIC is using model practices and using exemplary breastfeeding promotion and support practices to our residents and clients.
