​​Over 30% of Maryland adults are either overweight or obese1Being overweight or obese increases your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and other health issues.

If you are struggling with your weight, you may find that a healthy eating plan and regular phsyical activity can help you lose weight and keep it off over the long term.

Evidence-based community programs (e.g., TOPS, Weight Watchers, Curves Complete) are designed to help promote health and prevent disease. Below are evidence-based programs that Marylanders can access for weight management.

Are you ready to stop dieting and start making real changes? TOPS® can help you reach your weight-loss goals by providing you with the tools, information, support, and accountability you need to be successful. After all, this has been a winning formula for TOPS® members just like you for more than 70 years. Weekly meetings are the heart of TOPS® support and you’re welcome to attend your first meeting at any chapter location free of charge. There's no obligation.  Each chapter is a little different, so feel free to try more than one. Join TOPS® for just $32 per year, plus monthly local dues which are around $5 a month. With your membership, you’ll receive:

 

  • Weekly meetings
  • A step-by-step guide to healthy living
  • A subscription to TOPS News magazine
  • Access to online tools
