Permanent Supportive Housing Initiative

In February 2024, Stacey entered the Permanent Supportive Housing program, seeking a roof over her head and a chance to rebuild her life. After a few months of hard work and dedication, and with the assistance of her Permanent Supportive Housing Coordinator Chereise, she secured an apartment in Annapolis.

Stacey faced her challenges head-on and by July 2024, she was able to come off conditional release — a pivotal moment that symbolized her commitment to personal growth and recovery.

With newfound freedom, Stacey celebrated her achievements by purchasing an SUV, which not only provided her with reliable transportation but also represented her newfound independence and ability to navigate her world on her own terms.

Throughout her time in the program, Stacey set and accomplished numerous goals that contributed to her personal and professional development. One of her proudest achievements was publishing her book, "Melodies from Heaven.”

In addition to writing, Stacey is a part-time employee for Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks. This role allows her to give back to her community while also using her skills as a certified peer support specialist. In this capacity, she helps others who are navigating their own challenges, drawing from her experiences to offer empathy and guidance.

Stacey celebrated one year in the program — an achievement she reflects on with pride. She transformed her life, demonstrating that with support, determination and the right resources, it is possible to overcome obstacles and achieve personal goals. Stacey is a beacon of hope for others, showing that a brighter future is always within reach.
